When getting to our destination by plane, can we use our tablet for our in-flight entertainment? We explore the facts.

The Knowhow

Tablets, like laptops, are safe to use on a plane because they don't produce electromagnetic waves which can interfere with an aircrafts flight patterns.

When on a plane you'll be asked to turn your tablet off at take-off and landing but you're allowed to use them throughout the flight. Listen out for the aircrews announcements telling you when to turn on or off electrical equipment.

Tips for flying with your tablet:

  • Label your tablet with your name: When going through airport security, you'll need to take it out of your bag and place it in its own tray
  • Make sure it's got lots of charge to last the flight; it's unlikely you'll be able to charge it while in the air
  • Remember your headphones if you're going to watch films or listen to music

Then sit back and enjoy the flight. With your tablet on board the time getting to your journey's end will fly by. Happy travels!
