Whether you have a specified wash day or do a load as soon as the washing baskets full - keeping on top of it can be a challenge!

So, it's not surprising that alarm bells ring when something goes wrong, like water leaking from the machine. Don't panic though, there's usually a simple explanation.

One of the most common reasons for water leakage is that the machine's debris filter needs cleaning.

The Knowhow

The filter on your washing machine is there to make sure foreign items such as, buttons or coins don't go into the drain pipe. You should try to check your filter every 3-4 months.

  • At the front of the washing machine, there will be a filter cover which you need to open
  • Find a bowl to place under the drain tube. Gently pull the drain tube out about six inches and drain off the water.
  • Next, take off the debris filter by turning it anti-clockwise
  • Wash off any debris with warm water under the tap
  • Reinstall the filter

Easy. No need for the launderette after all!

Always refer to the manufacturer's manual for specific details.
